Faire Houre

I must admit I have always had a thing for clocks. It might have to do with the fact that I am a stickler when it comes to punctuality, or that I enjoy objects that are beautiful yet functional! Either way I love clocks- and the beauties at Faire Houre really caught my eye. One of a kind or limited editions, the clocks at Faire Houre are repurposed from china plates to create simple timepieces. I love the idea behind the product and also the fact that they can be modern or traditional depending on whatever gorgeous plate was used.

Located in the Sonoma wine country town of Healdsburg, CA. the Healdsburg Modern Cottages are a group of private rental cottages outfitted in the clean designs of 2oth Century Modernism. With a pool and relaxing atmosphere this little bit of paradise combines the privacy of your own little cottage with the ease of location to bike around and check out the restaurants and shops that are located right nearby.

Some Modern Home Inspiration...

Since T and I miss SF so, we often spend a bit of time perusing the available real estate in the city by the bay. We happened upon this spectacularly remodeled Frank Llyod Wright style Usonian home in one of my favorite parts of the city. Frank LLoyd Wright is one of my favorite architects and I absolutely love the style of this house; the openness to the outdoors, the beamed pitched ceiling and the fact that is it fantastically decorated with classic pieces (I spy a few that I own myself..) You can ogle the full listing right here. Love, love, love....

This Is Not Ikea

I discovered This Is Not Ikea when I was on the hunt for unique and bargain priced outdoor vintage furniture for our deck. I really wanted things that were one of a kind, not pieces that I would go to my friends' houses and see in their yard too! This Is Not Ikea was created on the premise that for the same amount of money that you spend at Ikea on things that will fall apart and are mass produced you can get a beautiful vintage piece that is quality and that has (and will) stand the test of time. They really do have an amazing selection, and the fact that it constantly changes is an incentive to visit often! (fiberglass chairs, vintage alarm clock, vintage wet floor sign)

Loving these 1940's black bouncer chairs. They have such a great look to them- clean, but whimsical at the same time.

Tuath na Mara House

Who doesn't dream of a private get-a-way in the remote countryside of beautiful Ireland? Mix isolation, natural beauty and modern architecture and you get my personal idea of heaven. Take a look at the stunning Tuath na Mara house, designed by Mac Gabhann Architects. This house was built in Lough Swilly, Donegal in Ireland an area known for its wildlife, animals including dolphins, sea birds and swans. With its expansive windows and open feeling- this house is ideally suited to enjoying the breathtaking nature that surrounds it.

For some reason I have always loved vintage melamine dishes. I am not a fan of eating off plastic- but these dishes would be perfect for a picnic and a bottle of wine on a warm Spring day! Set includes four divided plates (no touching food, please! ) and matching cups.

Textured decanter set. I love the typography on this set. Perfect to add to your vintage glassware collection. Cute!

As we our impending move creeps closer the interior designer in me is screaming to get out; envisioning our next living space. We haven't even begun a house search and yet I am already decorating in my mind! One great little etsy shop that I discovered is Blue Bell Bazaar- they have a beautiful and elegant selection of vintage pieces that, in my opinion, breath the perfect bit of airy whimsy into a room. I am eagerly anticipating my upcoming purchases- I might just have to buy the shop out! Click here to purchase the vintage fish box featured above.

I love this vintage Gentleman Jar. Perfect to fill with all my colored pencils in the office, an array of white soaps in the bathroom...I'm a sucker for clear glass jars and vases and I especially love this one with the funky sticker on it!

I've got my eye on this vintage wire basket- great to fill with all my back issues of Domino, Elle Decor and Living Etc.

Purves & Purves

Purves & Purves is a UK based online design store that is focused on quality, contemporary home pieces. With a keen eye for design and utility Purves & Purves is guided by four basic criteria in selecting pieces to join their ever evolving collection of home pieces: Is it well designed? Does it mesh with their idea of good design? Is it well made? and Is it a good value? Check them out and see how they did. Click here for the bright Pantone mugs featured above.

Very cool chemistry inspired table lamp. Featuring mouth blown glass- you can also impress you friends with a way you turn the light on and off as well as dim it... Slowly pass your hand horizontally over the top to turn the light on or off and wave your hand up and down in front of it to dim it. Designed by Airswitch by Mathmos.

I love these cheerful, round bellied buddhas! Perfect desk accessory to keep envelopes and papers organized!

Traditionally designed British deck chairs. These chairs remind me of campaign furniture, or chairs scattered about on an old time steam ship. These cotton sling chairs are also decorated with fun, famous quotes.

Loving this 50's sofa. With beautiful, simple lines this piece is timeless and will never go out of style. This one will last even longer as its been reupholstered in a subtly patterned raw silk.

Wow! This mirror is amazing. I can definitely imagine this making a wonderful entry statement in a small foyer. I love the bronze finish. Great price too!

Beautiful Grossfield House dresser. I love this finish and the lines are perfection.

Bobby Berk Home

I happened upon a new home decor website Bobby Berk Home. They carry a wide ranging selection of goods, mainly focused on modern favorites like Dwell Studio, Gus Modern and Not Neutral. They have clean and easy to maneuver website, I especially like the eco- friendly section and the gift section with items grouped by price range is nice especially with the impending holiday season fast approaching. Click here for the regal Greyhound Linen Pillow by Thomas Paul featured above.

I love this chandelier wall light. Perfect for adding ambiance to a room, and you get a piece of art out of it too! Made by DuffyLondon and available in two size options.

Check out this cool stackable storage cube. Perfect for storing toys and books. I love the retro vibe with the star cut out. Best part is they are made completely out of recycled wood without formaldehyde laden MDF.

New designs from Thomas Paul. Have a look at the Sarah Linen Pillow in beet. I love the color and the bohemian feel.

Room Service

I am quite fond of the mid century modern furniture style. There is a sense to the style that screams fun, entertaining and not taking life so seriously and that is definitely a feeling that I strive to convey in my own home decor. One of my favorite LA haunts is Room Service. Room Service is unlike other run of the mill furniture stores, because not only are they a retail store front, but they also have their own production facility and line of reproduction products. Many of the pieces available at Room Service are brand new, quality pieces with the cache and look of vintage pieces- its really the best of both worlds, quality and beauty! Shop online or visit one of their store locations either @ 5901 West 3rd Street in LA or @ 625 North Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs. Click here for the sofa above, one I would own if I was a single woman!

The color combination on this credenza is exquisite! I love the avocado green lacquer with the walnut wood. So fresh and bright!

This headboard is definitely an option for the new bedroom. I have always been inspired by mixing ethnic design ideas like moroccan with a modern twist. This headboard is the perfect example with the undulating lines accented with the bright fabric and oversize nailhead. A top contender for my bed search!

We just got rid of our glass and wood dining table in prep for our move. Mainly because I have a vision of an oversized natural wood dining table mixed with contemporary dining chairs- think Harry Bertoia and louis ghost chairs.... This Acacia eco choice might just be right...

Swallowtail

Swallowtail is a great San Francisco based antique and vintage goods store. They have an eclectic collection of pieces, and walking in you are immediately inspired to make your own home look as amazing as the store! With everything from great 1950's credenzas to french chandeliers, the store has a really intriguing vibe with things to appeal to a wide variety of tastes and design tendencies. You can check out their online store for a selection of some of the pieces they currently have available, or if you are in SF make a stop at the brick and mortar store @ 2217 Polk Street.

I wish I still lived in the area of Swallowtail, because I would definitely have to make a stop by to pick up this great piece! 1930's authentic vintage NYC subway sign. I would love this in a really spare room, or at the end of a hallway...

New take on a Louis the Fifteenth chair... I like the juxtaposition of the tough, loud fabric with the sloping, sophisticated lines of the louis chair.

I know, enough already with the deer taxidermy- but I really like this skull (which may seem weird since I am a lifelong vegetarian and animal lover) and the horns are pretty crazy! Also, apparently it was shot in 1898!
