Some Modern Home Inspiration...

Since T and I miss SF so, we often spend a bit of time perusing the available real estate in the city by the bay. We happened upon this spectacularly remodeled Frank Llyod Wright style Usonian home in one of my favorite parts of the city. Frank LLoyd Wright is one of my favorite architects and I absolutely love the style of this house; the openness to the outdoors, the beamed pitched ceiling and the fact that is it fantastically decorated with classic pieces (I spy a few that I own myself..) You can ogle the full listing right here. Love, love, love....

This Is Not Ikea

I discovered This Is Not Ikea when I was on the hunt for unique and bargain priced outdoor vintage furniture for our deck. I really wanted things that were one of a kind, not pieces that I would go to my friends' houses and see in their yard too! This Is Not Ikea was created on the premise that for the same amount of money that you spend at Ikea on things that will fall apart and are mass produced you can get a beautiful vintage piece that is quality and that has (and will) stand the test of time. They really do have an amazing selection, and the fact that it constantly changes is an incentive to visit often! (fiberglass chairs, vintage alarm clock, vintage wet floor sign)

The Vintage Supply Co

Happy Friday, everyone! Sorry for the light posting this week- we have been crazed!

Just discovered this great little Etsy vintage and fell in love! I am a sucker for great vintage pieces and The Vintage Supply Co has some great pieces to wear and also to furnish the home- one stop shop- gotta love it! Perfect 1950's mesh patio chairs featured above.

I absolutely adore lighting and 60's pop lighting can't be beat. Add it to any decor and you instantly have a bright spot in your room. Check out this vintage orange ceramic swag lamp, love the color!

Loving these 1940's black bouncer chairs. They have such a great look to them- clean, but whimsical at the same time.

Cleveland Art

I am always on the look out for great resources for unique home furnishings. Los Angeles company Cleveland Art is a great place to find pieces that you won't easily stumble upon elsewhere. Created in 1994 by Jason Wein, Cleveland Art was born out of his experience working in his families salvage yard. Jason saw the potential of industrial machinery being recycled and used for a functional purpose in the home or business. I have always loved the look of hard edged industrial pieces in the home, especially mixed in with other design styles.

I love the look of this vintage wood bench on casters. Would make a great addition to an entry hall or the living room.

Fantastic coat rack and bench combo. I am in love with this piece! Great organizational tool and features pull out cubbies for all those dog leashes, shoes and random bits that can clutter up your space.

Vintage cart with maple top. I would love this in a kitchen to use instead of your traditional island. Great way to add some character to a room.

Dream Home

Happy Friday! To switch gears a bit, I wanted to feature this lovely mid century modern LA home that I found while perusing the fabulous blog Desire To Inspire. TK and I have spent more hours that I can count looking at real estate here in the NY/NJ area, and so much of what we see leaves much to be desired! Being a California girl, the California modern architecture is what appeals to me- wide open entertaining spaces and light, bright, expansive windows and post and beam construction is always a bonus, so when I saw this house I said "I want it!" Check out the full listing here, maybe you can envision yourself living here too!

I am such a fan of her furniture and creativity so it makes it extra special to see our pieces alongside such beautiful work. Happy Monday!

Gold and Glistening

On a day like today with the rain pounding the window and the dreary grey sky taking over my normally bright studio, all I want is a little bit of sunshine to lift my mood. I guess maybe I was inspired by dreams of a sunny day and thats why all these glistening gold pieces really tickled my fancy today. I have always had a thing for metallics in interiors- it always seemed like the perfect bit of shiny jewelry to set off a collection or the ideal element of surprise on a coffee table. I'm loving this Punched Metal Stool featured above. These little guys do double duty with removable lids for storage while acting as a great little side table. You can pick them up here.

Designed by Parisian designing duo Tse & Tse, this big, beautiful bowl is finished in a clear glaze on the outside while the inside shimmers in a delectable gold. Lovely!

This beautiful pendent lamp would add sculptural sophistication to any room. Made from mouth blown Murano glass and finished in mirrored gold. Made exquisitely in Italy.

You can never have too much additional seating in a room, especially when its as adorable as this! I love traditional Moroccan poufs in a room- they add such a casual, comfortable air. These cool pieces take the pouf to the next level outfitted in a sleek metallic silver or gold.

If you are looking for that perfectly distinct piece that fits just the right spot in your home look no further than Greenville, SC's Knack Studios. Created by the fabulously talented and wonderfully sweet Barb Blair, Knack Studios takes salvaged and vintage furniture pieces and restores and resurfaces them, often with unrecognizable results. With a flair for great color and pattern combinations, Barb easily takes something that was once trash and makes it a unique heirloom treasure. If you are in the area be sure to stop by Knack and find that perfect one of kind piece and if your not you can enjoy Knack from afar via Barb's great blog and website.

There are so many beautiful items, its hard to pick favorites! This bright orange piece is a real stunner! Featuring sliding glass doors to house and display your special dish ware and accented with the perfect turquoise knobs. There are too many places this little gem could fit! Check out the before right here.

I am loving the detailing on this turquoise beauty! Great dresser to use as a centerpiece in a living room or the conventional way in a bedroom- though personally I would have hard time hiding away something so stunning in my bedroom!

Pretty and simple, I love the quiet finish on this piece. Goes well with all kinds of decor and those white diamond shaped knobs add just the right amount of fancy!

Product Spotlight: Constellation Wingback Chair

We've talked about the great work of Spruce before, but I came across one of their new creations, the Constellation Wingback Chair, and nearly cried at how beautiful it is! I cannot get enough of this fabulous piece, just check out the detail! The solid black fabric is embellished with individually sewn, white felt circles that scatter about like little stars, all of this sitting atop some sassy black lacquer feet.
Someone needs to give this beauty a place in their home! Just imagine it sitting next to a bright red side table....

Purves & Purves

Purves & Purves is a UK based online design store that is focused on quality, contemporary home pieces. With a keen eye for design and utility Purves & Purves is guided by four basic criteria in selecting pieces to join their ever evolving collection of home pieces: Is it well designed? Does it mesh with their idea of good design? Is it well made? and Is it a good value? Check them out and see how they did. Click here for the bright Pantone mugs featured above.

Very cool chemistry inspired table lamp. Featuring mouth blown glass- you can also impress you friends with a way you turn the light on and off as well as dim it... Slowly pass your hand horizontally over the top to turn the light on or off and wave your hand up and down in front of it to dim it. Designed by Airswitch by Mathmos.

I love these cheerful, round bellied buddhas! Perfect desk accessory to keep envelopes and papers organized!

Traditionally designed British deck chairs. These chairs remind me of campaign furniture, or chairs scattered about on an old time steam ship. These cotton sling chairs are also decorated with fun, famous quotes.

Suck UK

Suck UK is a London based design duo producing and dreaming up amazing items that can be used in almost any home, gallery or public space. They also feature various pieces designed by other fabulous designers. I first discovered them when I bought this nifty little Bottle Opener Refrigerator Magnet- I mean how convenient (well, at least it is for my fiancee for whom I bought it for...) After perusing their website I really fell in love, not only are they innovators that aren't stuck in a box, but their designs are tasteful and forward thinking while at the same time pushing the envelope of the ordinary. To say I am a big fan would be an understatement. Check out their amazing site and eclectic products and be sure to read their "story" section, its funny and inspirational for any driven designer determined to make it in their industry. Click here for the very cool Wooden bulb Light featured above.

Loving this Fire Bucket BBQ. Enameled metal bucket emblazoned with "Fire" converted to a portable barbeque. Great for an afternoon cook out at the park! Designed by Adrian Allen.

Very cool ceramic flower vase replicating three guns designed by Suck UK. Flower stems get dropped in the barrel- perfect for an eye catching centerpiece on a coffee table- this will be sure to catch you visitor's attention!

This teddy bear lamp is too funny not to include! Yes it may seem a bit macabre to those of you that treasure your stuffed friends, but there is no denying the fact that this piece is certainly unexpected! Featuring a black shade and pump teddy body.

Lili and Loo

I love the website for the brick and mortar home store of Lili and Loo. They have an amazing variety of merchandise that includes furniture, home decor and lovely little accents to fill up any nook and cranny. Lili and Loo began as a couple of tables at the Green Flea in New York City, but quickly decided they needed a permanent address and opened a store in Hudson, New York. Balancing a taste for worldly delights with a sophisticated edge, Lilli and Loo has the bases covered for the home! Check them out here, or if you are in their neck of the woods stop by their store @ 259 Warren Street. Click here for the brushed steel chest of drawers featured above.

I was immediately in love with this black terrazzo outdoor dining set. It is perfect for the english garden of my dreams! I love the simple lines, heavy look and dark color  juxtaposed with climbing roses and potted gardenias. I could definitely host some evening cocktails here!

Beautiful matte glazed ceramic bowls. I love the organic curves and how they look rough and hand hewn.

Elegant bird on a branch sculpture. Life sized and made out of brass. Pretty for a mantle.

Ochre

I love the look of Ochre. Starting out as a London based line of contemporary products for the home, Ochre recently branched out opening a retail location in New York City. Mixing in their own collection with a variety of complimentary pieces from other lines, Ochre not only chooses elegant and unique pieces, but they also make an effort to sell product lines that are made under fair trade and green principles. Take a look at their well designed website or if you are in the NYC area make a stop at their brick and mortar local @ 432 Broome 10013.

I immediately fell in love with this delicate collection of pink porcelain bowls. I love the soft, muted colors against the glazed porcelain- they look so delicate and soft.

Amazing hand blown colored glass pots by Michael Ruh. I love the colors and they are perfect for condiments or olives...

Pretty and graphic silk lavender pouches. Perfect for enlivening a room or small space with a fresh clean scent.
