Brenda Rose

Good Friday morning! Check out this visual eye candy from the very talented artist Brenda Rose. Based in Portland, Brenda combines found objects, vintage illustrations and other trinkets to create original and thought provoking pieces of art. I love her multi dimensional approach with the different layers that she uses to create depth. It really makes you sit and stare at the pieces, seeing new things each time you look- personally this is my favorite thing about art, and Brenda does it well. Click here for the matador, my favorite piece, featured above.

I love this man with pipe. Created with a vinyl decal pasted to a piece of plexi glass fixed 1/4" off the wood background. I really like the color combo here with the black, white, red and vitage graph paper.

Check out this one, mom and boy. This piece would make for a great gift for a mom... The old map gives it the feel of a traveler.

Product Spotlight: Nixie Desk Clock

Being the punctuality freak that I am it is no surprise that I have a rather extensive clock and watch collection.  The thing is that not only do I always want to know the time, but I really adore clocks and the various ways that designers come up with ways to be creative with something that can be so mundane, like the time. BDDW has been a favorite furniture company of mine for a long time- based out of Brooklyn they have a knack for creating absolutely stunning pieces of furniture out of domestic hardwoods. That being said combine one of my favorite furniture designers with a clock and you hit a home run! Check out the beautiful Nixie Clock Collection , I was immediately drawn to the Silvered Bronze Desk Clock featured above. I love the simplicity of the lines and the heavy feel with the quiet digital numbers. So beautiful!

Lena Corwin

Many of you may know of Lena Corwin's work, most notably her beautiful textile designs and whimsical illustrations. Her work has a very carefree feel to it, which is what I think I enjoy best about it. She has a great little online shop with a selection of pieces from her line available. There you will find sweet melamine plates, comfortable throw pillow and other various textiles. Definitely worth a gander, you just might find that perfect gift you are searching for!

Loving this cute Travel melamine plate. The adorable illustrations bring back memories of my own cross country sojourns. Good gift idea for a travel crazy friend or family member!

Fun men's tie made from a light vintage fabric.

I think this is my favorite pillow available from Lena's collection. I love the yellow and blue colors and the layering of images. You can peruse all the items featured here.

Product Spotlight: Wool Throw Blankets/Toast

As winter is fast approaching, there is nothing more essential than a great, cozy throw blanket to wrap yourself in, throw across the sofa or curl up with in bed. I am always on the look out for a new, warm throw blanket and usually my favorites are mens-wear inspired patterns, cashmere, wool or plaid. A great source for a selection of comfy blankets is Toast, and the name says it all... wrap your self in one of these and you will be very toasty! Click here for the amazing herringbone, cashmere throw from Scotland featured above.

I love this beautiful Welsh Tapestry Bedcover. Not exactly a throw blanket, but I am sure it will do the trick! Made of undyed British wool, this cover was woven on a loom in the few surviving Welsh woolen mills. A vintage copy.

Nothing beats a classic plaid check cashmere throw. Love this color combo!

Cog and Pearl

Cog and Pearl is one of my favorite places to stop and check out in Brooklyn. They have an amazing and constantly changing array of goods from independent artists, running the gamut from home products, jewelry and apparel. With a warm and inviting feel, Cog and Pearl makes you want to stay and browse! If you aren't lucky enough to pop by their brick and mortar spot, check out their online site- a great place to find unique items for that person who has everything! Located in Brooklyn @ 190 Fifth Avenue Brooklyn, NY. Click here for the amazing watercolor painted playing card set featured above.

Being a lover of all things cozy, warm knit blankets, fluffy cable sweaters,  I was immediately drawn to the unique texture of the Knitwear Tumbler. Created by ceramist Alyssa Ettinger the unglazed exterior of these beautiful vessels look as soft and textural as any favorite knit sweater.

How adorable are these fun chicken feet salt and pepper shaker set? Created by Perch! out of porcelain, these shakers are the perfect bit of humor for any table setting.

I am officially in love with this Pheasant Necklace. Elegant and sophisticated, this necklace evokes a bygone era featuring an antique reverse painted glass cabochon decorated with a beautiful pheasant design.

Stencil 1

If you are looking for a fun and easy to way to dress up your walls, be sure to check out Brooklyn based Stencil 1. Stencil 1 is a company founded by graphic designer Ed Roth, greatly influenced by his upbringing in New York as well as his love for graffiti art, Ed has created an assorted collection of entertaining images derived from the 70's and 80's. I have personally used these stencils, having purchased the adorable sparrow, and the best part of them is that they are incredibly durable and can be used and washed off and to be re-used later. Another great part of the stencils is that you can make a mural with assorted images (as shown above) or do just a little accent somewhere. Can't beat that! Check out the full collection here

I love this chair mini set. Perfect for use on the wall, or to stencil t-shirts. Fun and easy! Find it by clicking the full collection above.

Great looking deer head. Now us animal lovers don't have to resort to taxidermy... just grab some paint and go.

Bobby Berk Home

I happened upon a new home decor website Bobby Berk Home. They carry a wide ranging selection of goods, mainly focused on modern favorites like Dwell Studio, Gus Modern and Not Neutral. They have clean and easy to maneuver website, I especially like the eco- friendly section and the gift section with items grouped by price range is nice especially with the impending holiday season fast approaching. The Paris Market & Brocante

The Paris Market is a retail store based in historic Savannah, Ga., but stepping inside you are immediately transported to another world with new and vintage goods that take their cues from abroad. The owners of The Paris Market were inspired by their love of travel and the many places they have visited and brought together their favorite pieces for their customers to peruse- everything from sweet smelling candles, to vintage furnishings, if you want to bring a little European elegance to your home look no further! If you live in the area make a stop by their brick and mortar locale (if you haven't already) @ 36 West Broughton Street. Click here for the very cool chandelier's made from wine spheres featured above.

This table immediately caught my eye. I love this unique design- it is not something you would often see. Featuring a rust finish on the iron table, this beauty is punctuated with an amazing riveted detail. I love that this table would work easily in a crisp, modern NYC loft or a hundred year old vintage farm house...

Great looking industrial counter. This would make a great entry piece- perfect for organizing mail, magazines, scarves, whatever you have that makes itself into a comfy mess by the front door!

I have always had a thing for vintage beverage dispensers and this Absinth 2 Spout Fountain is no exception.. Featuring a mouth blown glass bowl, so pretty!

Check out Finch, an adorable retail store in Austin, TX. I am a little obsessed with Austin lately, as we are planning a move there in a few months and am looking forward to visiting all the amazing shops that are there. Finch will definitely be at the top of the list (can't wait to start re-decorating the house). They have a great assortment of natural yet modern products, which is a look I am loving right now! Room Service

I am quite fond of the mid century modern furniture style. There is a sense to the style that screams fun, entertaining and not taking life so seriously and that is definitely a feeling that I strive to convey in my own home decor. One of my favorite LA haunts is Room Service. Room Service is unlike other run of the mill furniture stores, because not only are they a retail store front, but they also have their own production facility and line of reproduction products. Many of the pieces available at Room Service are brand new, quality pieces with the cache and look of vintage pieces- its really the best of both worlds, quality and beauty! Shop online or visit one of their store locations either @ 5901 West 3rd Street in LA or @ 625 North Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs. Click here for the sofa above, one I would own if I was a single woman!

The color combination on this credenza is exquisite! I love the avocado green lacquer with the walnut wood. So fresh and bright!

This headboard is definitely an option for the new bedroom. I have always been inspired by mixing ethnic design ideas like moroccan with a modern twist. This headboard is the perfect example with the undulating lines accented with the bright fabric and oversize nailhead. A top contender for my bed search!

We just got rid of our glass and wood dining table in prep for our move. Mainly because I have a vision of an oversized natural wood dining table mixed with contemporary dining chairs- think Harry Bertoia and louis ghost chairs.... This Acacia eco choice might just be right...

Furniturea

Sometimes all we need in our home is a basic, well constructed piece of furniture that performs a function and looks good doing it. Things like dressers, or bookcases- we need to pile them high with books or fill them to the brim with clothes... we need them to perform a function! Check out Furniturea for simple and clean wood basics with a twist- each piece can be customized to your taste with 24 different color options. Now that well constructed simple bookcase can be lime green or red while doing its job! Each piece from Furniturea is made to order and produced one piece at a time so you are sure to get a quality item that will last a lifetime,  you can also make modifications to existing pieces for a reasonable fee, so any piece can fit right where you need it to.

I love this great looking sideboard, perfect for the dining room to store your extra linens or glassware. I think it would be great in a vibrant orange!

Great looking lines for this simple daybed. Utilize it for a guest room cum office or in this fresh seaside color for a summer home accented with crisp, clean white linens.

Simple two drawer dresser. I love the proportions and my pick is for this sophisticated grey.

Spruce

Good Friday morning, everyone! Fridays are slowly turning into Etsy Fridays! So for our first Friday Etsy find, check out Spruce. Spruce is an Austin, TX based re-upholstery company. They have a knack for choosing great, classic, vintage furniture pieces and re-upholstering them with amazing fabric selections that really creates an inspired piece. I really love their work, their fabric selections are so fresh and cheerful and really brings a new life to the piece. Check out Spruce, nothing is better than taking something old and boring and infusing it with a modern, clean appeal that will last for years. Click here to purchase the delicious cherry cane bench featured above.
